You're in an honors class, and you're usually wrong?!?!
Sounds a little oxymoronic, if you ask me! ;)
Regardless, I have been in many classes, from elementary through college and post-graduate work, where I felt that I did not "fit in", mostly because I was "different" in some way from everyone else. As such, I was terrified to ask questions or give answers, and, when I did, it was usually a "bad" question or answer. Looking back on it, I feel pretty silly about it! Who cares what other people think? You are there to get educated, and you won't do it standing on the sidelines!
Nobody is perfect, and, as any teacher will tell you: The only way to learn is to ask, and to learn from your mistakes.

No one cares if your wrong after the first minute, and yes it usually is a large portion of your grade. I am in all honors too, and they are starting to crack down on participation points. Teachers DO remember who participates, and they DON'T care if your wrong, but it will show in your grade. I am usually scared, but you need to step outside your comfort level because everyone in honors has the guts to do that.

I have been in your circumstance. Class participation is part of your grade, and you might get points for it every day. You need to stop worrying about what others think. Even if you are wrong sometimes, you are showing you have the courage to answer questions. Good luck, and be positive.

Don't be scared. Even if you are always wrong, there is a reason behind your answers. And I'm sure there is always someone thinking the same thing you are. Talk to the teacher after class if you still are scared. Teachers are not there to intimidate, they want to help. Explain the situation to them about being embarrased and I'm sure they will do their best to help get over the fear.

It was never a large part of my grade... but at parent-teacher interviews they always said I should participate more. But I'm just naturally quiet, so I didn't really want to.
My profs in university have said that if you have a question, probably at least 20 other people do too, but are too afraid to ask. So in your classroom it'd probably be closer to 5 or so. If you've got the courage to ask, I'm sure they'd really appreciate it.

Yes i am afraid or that sometimes i must admit.
But if you got it wrong, no doubt everyone will laugh.
So all you need to do if everyone laughs because you got a question wrong, is laugh with them and say.
"How was i to know, i ain't a god"
That's the sort of thing i do when i get a question wrong and everyone laughs... it helps..
hope i helped :-)
