I have heard in the news that in Arkansas they are going to try to pass a law saying they do not have to have parental consent no matter what age. I was curious to know whether it was just about pregnant teens and I found this article. What are your opinions on this? Do you think it will be passed?

You misread the article.

Originally the minimum age a person could get married without parental consent was 16 for women and 17 for men.

The legislature raised that age to 18.

Inadvertently, the way the bill was worded created a loophole that would allow a person of any age to get married WITH parental consent.

This has been brought up in the press a lot. The intent of the law was to allow 16 - 17 year olds to marry when the female was pregnant by the male. However in the law itself, the age was accidently ommitted. I think this is what you are thinking about. I think it actually passed and they are ammending it if they haven't already.
