Some do.

It's disgusting.

God knows what other hateful violence - aimed at THEM, by the way, as (nominal) Americans - they would also excuse.

Falwell is the only person I can remember saying we deserved it, and that was because of all the gays...what a bastard... talk about someone getting what they deserved...

Oh, back on track.

Did anyone else notice that the responders saying yes arent liberals, but they think they know what we think? Gotta love that..

No, it was not deserved, Im insulted by the question. Based on the liberals Im friends with and my own beliefs, we were right there with the cons after 9/11. Then they started using it as a way to get whatever they wanted passed through with no opposition. Theyve manipulated the whole situation, it is disgraceful.

Let's see... shall we take the words of a couple of idiots from either end of the political spectrum and take them to represent EVERYONE? Listen, almost all of us cried on 9/11. I still do, every year. This wasn't a left or right THING. We did NOT deserve 9/11. Terrorism is an attack on civilian populations, and as such, is abhorrent. I will be the first one cheering if and when we ever capture Osama Bin Laden. I hope they bring back beheading as capital punishment, just for him.

That being said, America and its policies have created a world where many people and nations are, in some instances deservedly, angry at us. We are not innocent of crimes of our own. Despite that, I think that we still are, by and large, a good nation full of good people. I just hope we can stop playing games with people's lives and start showing leadership qualities the world will respect--not out of fear, but out of gratitude for our good deeds.

No issue in this world is black and white. Some of you will take what I've said completely out of context since I don't have time to write you all an essay deserving of this topic, but let's start looking at issues for what they are, not for what party we belong to.

Our leaders hastened 9/11 by their foreign policies. Innocent American citizens did not deserve this. There is a distinction to be made here that seems to get run over by rhetoric. Too bad it is always the innocents who reap what the leaders sow.

I believe that any politician who says we deserved 9/11 is a liar (and anyone who agrees is simply a follower who can't think for themselves). Possibly the saddest thing next to the tragedy itself is that 9/11 is being used as yet another political tool for personal gain. It's sick.

Once again a sweeping statement from this asker....

I have never heard anyone think the US deserved the attack on 9/11... I have heard theories on why people in the Middle East blame us for instability in their region (not agreeing or agreeing; I am just presenting a fact that conservatives and liberals have stated this) and this perception is why we are hated by some of these people.

It would make sense to see why someone attacked us... it would make sense to understand our enemies. Understanding our enemies does not mean we embrace them, it means that we have a better chance to beat them and/or remedy the situation.

I believe that Wahhabism in Saudi Arabia needs to be destroyed. Not the governments of oil-rich Persian nations.

if it actually was an action initiated by radical Islam...maybe we did...if you keep jabbing me with a your finger, eventually I'm gonna jab you back or maybe deck you, and you'd deserve it. As for the people who died on 911...no, they certainly did not!

No, not to my knowledge. I've never heard any liberal say such a thing. The only person I've heard express that sentiment is Ron Paul, running as a Republican to boot.

Yes. The left believes that America is evil and that her troops are terrorists. Ask John Kerry, Murtha, Dick Turban and their friends in the land of the fruits and nuts like Tim Robbins, Barbara Streisand, Ben Affleck, Sean Penn... And we can't leave out the organization that owns them all, moveon.org.

No, only Pat Robertson, the Preacher from Kansas, and others like them believe that.
