It didn't not that Iknow of. the 2nd one just came out. If it did it probobly because, of what Vanessa Hudgens did.

Although High School Musical 3 has yet to be confirmed, Zac Efron was quoted from People Magazine, saying:
"I can tell you that if the script is good and if we all agree on a final script, then there's nothing that is going to hold us back from doing it. We have fun making these movies and that's very rare in this business."
Despite early speculation that Vanessa Hudgens would be dropped from High School Musical 3 due to her public nude scandal, Disney denied the reports, saying, "Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she's learned a valuable lesson."

As far as I know it has been cancelled. Everyone at my school was talking about it being cancelled due to Huggens' Porn.

It hasnt been cancelled, Vanessa Hudgens may just not be in HSM3. Because of all of the nude photos of her. It depends though, she may be in...or Disney may kick her out because of this.
