1998. And, yes, they completely went out. Lucky I didn't get hurt (& that no one else did)!

I have a '99 Isuzu Amigo 4 wheel drive with disk brakes all the way around. I bought it in Columbus, Ohio where the salt on the roads corrodes the underside. All the calipers locked up and I had to have it all replaced with the brakes and pads. Cost me in excess of $800. So based on my experience, it may not be that out of line...

Ford parts are cheap and labor is very expensive. That is only slightly unreasonable. You can get non-factory OEM replacements of rotors and pads for relatively cheap. I replaced my rotors and pads with Stoptech slotted rotors and Hawk SP+ semi-race pads for only $50 per axle. That's a savings of $700 (not including the master cylinder).

The labor they charged is where they gotcha. I can buy a car for $900. It sounds ReAl steep to me. Check out how much those labor charges were. They had better not only replaced everything they better have replaced it with top notch stuff!wow

Usually yer local mechanic is the cheapest. It usually runs about 40 foir the front and 50 for the back at the shop. Plus turning the rotors ...thats not a bad price, but you can do it yer self for soooo much cheaper. You still have to take the rotors off and take them to get them turned but most places only charge a bout 20 bucks per.

It depends on the make and model of car, if the parts are expensive then $900 may not be ridiculous

Depends on what kind of car or truck? Its not of heard if it is higher end sports car or a heavey duty truck. But if its an escort I would start questioning it. It may still be legit but you still have the right as a consumer to ask them to explain each charge.

Well, for a normal brake job, that's absurd.
However, if you let it go until they stopped working, it could have been a major PITA to fix, and $900 wouldn't be out of line.
