I think he is so courageous, not afraid of airing his personal feelings in this PC mad world, lets face it how many gay and lesbian people get to air their views unhindered, but a straight man or woman has to be so careful not to offend when they have a strong opinion.

Well he did apologize for using that horrible phrase "shirt lifter". If you don't totally suck up to the so-called "gay" people, you get tared and feathered. Its all part of their plan. How to they get to call themselves "gay"? Does that mean that straight people are not "gay", i.e. not happy? The ones dying of aids don't look very "gay" to me.

Oh come on! Reading some of the posts in this question are just making me want to spew over it. "How can gay people call themselves 'gay, i.e. happy"? Sorry, love, it's an archaic phrase in etimology and it ain't coming back any time soon. The word has been comandeered by the GAY communiity, just as the "straight" community have with '***', 'Shirtlifter', 'Fudge packer'... etc.

Jim Davidson on Hell's Kitchen was offensive but he is from that old age range of White, Conservative Males who have had their opinions noticed and recognised over the past 100 years. They don't like it that now a new generation has took over, they don't appreciate the change. He said it himself, "What happens to the people like me?" ROLE WITH THE CHANGES!

There's no need "to 'suck-up' to the so-called "gay people", just recognise that at the end of the day we are people too and we are a big branch in society. If someone can get thrown out of BB for making racist remarks, people from any walk of life should expect the same. If someone called a black person a 'Niger', white a 'Honky', Chinese a 'Chogie' there'd be uproar.

A big NO, I used to like Jim Davidson and find him quite funny, but seeing him on Hells Kitchen has changed all that. Fair enough he has a right to an opinion and air it he did!! but never once did he consider other peoples feelings. Im straight and have no problem with gay and lesbian people but I also have a brain!! You don't start shouting about like he did!

I like Jim Davidson, he is not in Bernard Mannings class but he has given it a good go. Good luck to him.

I take your point about PC things - but to be honest I think we have lost our way a little. Some things said as a joke could be very hurtful - in my workplace they swear, make racist jokes, act homophobic, attack transvestites, think because they are british they are superior to foreigners...the list goes on. I don't get it that people are nasty like JD. He has a right to say sthings yes, but should'nt he, in his rather elevated position in life, be a little bit more careful. He too has made mistakes, would he want people - gay or otherwise, judging him. To me, he seems to have scored an own goal here. So yes he has the right to say things, that does'nt make it right, but no, he is no hero.

If someone LGBT offers up an insult such as calling a Muslim a "raghead" or some other epithet, then the network would fire them.

What you really want is the ability to be a bigot and be unfettered in it.

Tough ****
