I attended school in the 60's and 70's.
I didn't have a single childhood friend on these drugs kids are taking today. I was a band member and had hundreds of friends. We made it just fine.
What's wrong with you people?

Ballerina111,
If by "judgemental" you mean, "I say what I think", you are correct.

I agree with you, half of the drugs today are mind alterniting anyway. Then the parents can blame everything on the doctors. My pappy always said." If you wear a blister on your hindend then you are the one who has to sit on it".Well today if some mischief comes about,we run them to the doctor and his job is to sell drugs, guess what?I see them everyday in the court system and it is a mess, people we can not all live on drugs and expect for our society to stand,it is crumbling as we speak because of drugs.Whether by doctors orders or by street drugs they all have the same effect.I know some will disagree with me now but wait ten years and see what they say, when they see some in mental wards over drugs. Look at the youngwer generation now,no morals,no respect, and no will power. We have caused this with wanting things better for our children, now we got it.The good ole days are gone forever, when we had to work for what we got and appreciated it.It's heartbraking to a old man like myself.

if you believe the kids in those pictures are 11 years old.. then you need a reality check. While it's true that many kids these days look older than they actually are.. it's quite obvious that the kids in those pics are at least 15-17 years old. But to answer your question.. it's simply slack parenting. The parents obviously think that the clothes and makeup look good and encourage their daughters to think that they need all this stuff to look pretty. However.. it's not always the parents' fault.. sometimes the kids will just do things/wear things on their own.. it's called rebellion =] My 15yr old daughter wears makeup sometimes when she's going out, and she has used a tanning creme.. but she knows that she doesn't need all this and the slutty clothes to look good. She has modesty and dignity and I tell her all the time that she is beautiful just the way she is without all the extra crap.

Not even a bit of pot? You don't know what you missed.
A lot of the drugs, commonly called designer drugs, weren't yet invented in the 60s. They are highly addictive and once used, experimentally, they are needed habitually.
The parents don't allow the use, they either don't know about it or simply can't control it.

Most parents are unaware their child is doing it, some do it themselves, some think that drugs dangers are overexagerated, some will only tolerate marijuana, some think that its a normal phase in childhood, other times the parents feel too proud of their kids they refuse to beleive their child would do it and even deny it when its strait up obvious.

good question. it seems parents have gotten lax and just seem to not want to be bothered with raising their kids in an appropriate manner. a kid likes to play alot and he has alot of energy, he has add or whatever, give him/her drugs, all you need to do is take the time to enroll child in activities that will tire them out and expel some of that extra energy. we have lost our way. now i will not generalize, since all parents are not alike. but there are alot of parents that think it is easier to give a child a pill. we dont even know the effects these drugs might have when child becomes an adult. they are given medicines that are meant for adults. insanity.

You sound a bit judgemental.

Isn't it a bit paternalistic for you to decide what's best for other people? Paternalism comes from arrogance.

You don't understand what it's like for them, and you're not a clinical researcher. I suggest you get off your high horse.

You're a rarity as you know. I can't count the number of people who were teens in the sixties who told me about their various dabblings in mescaline, acid, pot, coke etc.

Nothing's different. Just things today aren't as safe as they might have been in the past. You're likely to have Raid in your pot nowadays.
