9 pounds is not necessarily too small for a 3 month old . Each baby grows at a rate that is right for him/her. 9 pounds is on the low end of the percentage scale - about 5 percentile - how does that compare to her height? If her height is approximately the same percentile, then her weight is right on target for her. Very generally speaking, a baby will double his/her birthweight by 6 months old. But, many factors may cause this not to be true. Because a baby's diet is basically liquid, frequent stools are common and not generally a cause for alarm. Some things to consider, did your baby loose weight right after birth? This is common and you will want to think about how much she weighed at her 2 week check up. Had she re-gained her birth weight yet? If not, she had to play some catch-up for the first few weeks of life. Actually, eating every 2-3 hours is perfectly normal for a 3 month old - she is right on track there. Preemie clothes generally are for babies weighing 6 pounds or less, so while some preemie clothes will fit her, especially if she is also thinly built, she will likely also be able to wear newborn - 3 month clothes. You say you have had her at the doctor. What have they said about her weight? If she is healthy, eating enough (and she seems to be), and making any growth then she is doing well. I might suggest that you double check that you are making her formula properly according to the can directions. It is usually one scoop of formula per 2 ounces of water, but some brands are different. If you feed her when she is hungry and she is growing, even if it is only ounces at a time, then there really isn't anything else you need to do for her. If her doctor feels she is doing OK and you trust your doctor, then you can relax and let her grow at her own pace. If you aren't confident in your doctor's assesment, then get a second opinion. Resist the urge and the suggestions to add infant cereal to your baby's bottle. The nutrional value of cereal is quite small and any amount added to her diet now will replace the amount of formula she drinks which is where she receives all her nutritional needs.

Generally, babies losses weight few days after birth. if your baby is gaining weight, you do not have to be alarmed. She will gain gradually. At 6 months, their birth weight is doubled by this age. Tripled from birth weight at a year.

If she is crying, vomiting and pooping after eating, then i'll consider consulting the pediatrician if it is lactose intolerance.

About the size, try to ask her pediatrician for a growth percentile chart. you'll see there if she is on the right tract. My daughter was born premie (at 33 weeks) of 2 lbs and 11 oz. she started feeding for only 15 mL (1/2 ounce). by 3 months, she is only feeding 2-4 ounces of formula milk. i was worried to that time because she is so small and skinny. but the doctors told me that if you're going to look to the percentile chart (she was below the lowest percentile) and add a few weeks (40 weeks-33 weeks= 7 weeks she lost from gaining enough fatt inside the mother for adequate development), she is on the right tract (although not on the average, but 2-3 percentile above the lowest percentile). They told me that by age 2 years old, she will be on the right tract with the same age group. now she is 3 years old and doing fine!

Seek Medical Attention from a very good Pediatrition. She could have a food alergy to the formula. If you are breast feeding her, your milk could not have enough nutrients in it. That was my problem. My firstborn lost from 7.7 at birth to 5 lbs in less than 2 weeks. She was breast feeding constantly and draining both sides and crying all the time. They tested my milk and said I didn't have enough fat content in it so I had to put her on foumuls. She started gaining almost instantly. Diarrhea in a baby can drain precious elecrolites from their system. She need to be seen for sure and possibly have a different menu. If your current doctor doesn't think there is a problem, then get a second doctor's advise especially if you are concerned. That is what mother's instincts were put into us for.

At 9 months, the toddler is complete progressed, and can many times stay exterior the womb without developmental issues (except there are different aspects in contact which includes Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, etc...). earlier than a minimum of 36-37 weeks (or perhaps earlier than the 38 week element at times) the toddler is underdeveloped, and would need issues commencing from respiration matters, inner injury (feeding matters, etc...) by way of organs being underdeveloped, to psychological progression matters. maximum medical doctors will end exertions if possible before 36 weeks. previous the 36/37 week era, they are going to attempt and end it in the event that they experience it incredibly is critical, yet will many times enable the exertions to proceed (or a minimum of it incredibly is how my general practitioner does it). some untimely little ones are in simple terms large. My sister grew to become right into a preemie (untimely toddler), and grew up in simple terms large. She's 19 or 20 now (annoying to maintain music once you have 8 siblings!) and you will possibly never be attentive to she grew to become right into a preemie except somebody advised you, you observed the %., etc... Others are not so fortunate. I incredibly have a chum who has issues strolling by way of fact she grew to become into born too early, and her bones and joints did not have time to totally advance. each toddler is diverse, yet many times a newborn born in develop would have some variety of progression matters.

I would take her to the doctor.

When you took her for her 2 months shots, wasn't the doctor concern about your baby's weight???
