I have a used monitor and it is stained a tan color when originally it was white. I've tried everything to get it back to white. I used baking soda, bleach, and many others... So far none have worked. Can anyone suggest anything?

Are you sure it is tobacco stains?

A lot of the plastics used for monitors have poor UL resistance, and will turn brown under the combination of sunlight and heat from the monitor.

If this is the case then that colour goes right though the plastic, it is not going to come off.

Step 1 - Go to Walmart
Step 2 - Buy the cheap white spray paint and fine sand paper
Step 3 - Unplug Monitor
Step 4 - In a well ventilated area, take the monitor apart so that the picture tube assembly is separate from the outer plastic.
Step 5 - Sand the outer shell
Step 6 - Wipe away excess dust
Step 7 - Spray paint outter shell and let dry for an hour and respray
Step 8 - Put the monitor back together and Wha-La!
Step 9 - Quit smoking or have those using the machine quit smoking.
Step 10 - To quit smoking go here www.chantix.com It worked for me!

Side note: For a variation you can paint the whole thing black and mask off flames for a well blended flame job! Good luck!

You may want to try this. I use Listerine and cotton balls to clean the tobacco smoke off of my husbands computer screen, it works really well. Just put some Listerine on a cotton ball and clean your monitor, wipe dry with a soft cloth. It will not damage the finish
