Well, a few questions:

Is nonfiction too popular a topic to write about? Is it popular but there isn't enough out there for it? Is there a better chance a nonfiction book would get published more than a fiction book?

I know writing is about what you know. Would it be interesting for people to read about a lesbian couple where one of them is in a wheelchair and the other is transgendered? Lol, hey it's my life I'm sure I could organize it well enough. So what you guys think?

Nonfiction isn't a topic, it's a genre. And nonfiction books as a whole sell better than fiction (think of all the cookbooks, Dummies books, etc!)

As far as your idea, you might want to have a specific theme to it. Is it self-help? Is it homosexual issues? But if you just want to tell the story of your life or a specific part of it, then you could write it as fiction and publish it as a memoir (those are hot right now)

If you get a copy of Writers Market and read through the listings for agents and small publishers, you will find there are many out there who are interested in women's issues - particularly lesbian issues. It might not be a mainstream market, but there is definitely a market for it. I would suggest you outline your story and start writing. Then get a book that teaches you how to write a book proposal. With non-fiction, the book proposal is a very important tool selling tool - even more so than with fiction.

You have a unique story to tell and unique sells. Go for it. Pax-C

I think the book has potential, because contemporary society is very interested in homosexuality and other sexual and gender issues.

However, it's probably best to find an agent before you start writing. If the book will probably work, then an agent will take you and find a publisher. Then, all you have to do is worry about writing the book the best you can.

If no agents are interested in your book, you might want to reconsider whether it will be well-recieved or not.
