As of now, it appears to be the colts or the patriots. They both put up great numbers last week, and they have too many good players to not be consistent. I'm going to go with the Colts because they have been so good for so long.

No defense really wowed me this week. Also, it's hard to tell after one week who is going to have the best defense for the whole year. If someone had to twist my arm for an answer I would say either the Chargers or, more surprisingly, the Colts. The Chargers have always been stacked defensively, except in the secondary, and their virtual blanking of the Bears offense (3 points came off of a drive that basically started in field-goal range) is something to be impressed by, even if Rex is playing in a league too skilled for his incompetence. The Colts' defense was just as impressive, if not more impressive, by virtually blanking the Saints, who have potentially one of the most explosive offenses around. So look to either the Colts or the Chargers to be the defensive leaders this year. On the whole, look to the elite AFC teams to be far more domineering this year than perhaps even last year. Sorry, NFC fans, I don't know exactly when this conference mismatch started, but it's here to stay for a least a couple more years.

I'll go with the Colts, at least they are playing the game without the advantage of having the other teams defensive signals on file to analyze and have the correct offensive counter attack. I'm a Steeler fan and have always hated the Patriots, with the new evidence of them cheating I now hate them even more, because the coach can't coach his team without stealing the opposing teams defensive schemes. Isn't the game file/photo during game time enough too adjust your game plan during the game and at the half.

It doesn't matter. Here's why:
* San Diego led the NFL in points per game last year, but it didn't matter because the Colts won the Super Bowl.
* Ladainian Tomlinson set an NFL record for most touchdowns, a record for most points scored in a single season, and led the league in rushing yards, but it didn't matter because the Colts won the Super Bowl.
* Drew Brees led the league in passing yards, but it didn't matter because the Colts won the Super Bowl.
* Chad Johnson led the league in receiving yards, but it didn't matter because the Colts won the Super Bowl.
It doesn't matter if you have the #1 ranked offense, all that matters is winning football games. Simple as that.

What do you mean by #1? Most total yards? Most touchdowns?
If you mean TDs, it's hard to tell just based on week 1, but my money is on the Patriots, Chargers, or Colts, in that order.
If you mean yards, I might go with the Saints, Colts, and Patriots in that order.

The patriots, they have to many weapons with Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Gaffney they have many options. And their is a feeling Maroney will come into his own this year with Dillon gone.
