Myself I listen to input from opposing political and spiritual views.
If I have an opinion I place it under scrutiny of others to provide feedback to measure the merit of my opinions.
I listen to radio stations with differing views...aka diversity.

So I was wondering...what do you do with your open minds to understand the views of differing and diverse people?

Personally it seems that you worry way too much about what others think. You seem to need the approval of others in order to have an opinion. You stated “If I have an opinion I place it under scrutiny of others to provide feedback to measure the merit of my opinions”.

With that said I do not place great deal of effort in trying to be diverse. Not that I am closed minded but I know what I like and what I do not. I know what I believe and do not believe and do not feel that I should bend my ways of thinking just to please others. I do not go out of my way to be rude but things like being gay are sick and disgusting. Hip Hop music sounds like crap. However I do not go out and bash gays or disrespect those that like Hip Hop. If you ask me a question I will tell you honestly even if it is not the PC thing to do. Being PC has gotten this country into a lot of trouble. It has by all means made some things better but like every good thing it has gone too far in so many areas.

Good question.

When my opinion differs from someone else, I do listen, especially if the person has knowledge I am not privy to. Example: I'm not Muslim, so if I want to understand their experiences, I listen to what they have to say.

But there are too many martyrs out there who feel that asking a question loaded with invectives is debate, which it is not. In cases like those, I tend to be less hospitable.

I make racist and offensive jokes and comments, and see what the response is. Thats the best way to get an honest response!
