A family member of mine randomly makes up stories about being molested as a child. She is in her late thirties and claims the abuse happened to her as a child.

She has thus far accused her own brother, her uncle, her step dad, and her father as well as a few family friends. When she was thirteen, she claimed her stepfather raped her, but a medical examination determined that he had not.

I do believe she is crazy. Lately, she is saying that her father, a recent widower, has been making passes at her, calling her and talking about his "needs," etc. I happen to know for a fact taht her father has been out of town working and has not had the opportunity to do these things to her. She has three sisters- none of which believe her. She is ripping the entire family apart. The sisters are much younger than she is and remember being interrogated by her as children about male family members.

She has not filed a police report against the father.

This same woman has faked cancer and other illnesses in the past for attention. It's clear why she is doing this. But she is ruining her father's life.

She has told the entire community that they live in- where he grew up and has lived 67 years of his life- lies about him. Terrible, disgusting lies. People don't let their kids play with her sister's kids because they've heard things about the grandfather.

As she has not made any legal claims there is not really much to be done. You said "But she is ruining her father's life." How? He still has his job and his freedom. He has the choice to stop talking to her if he wants.

I had a step-daughter with the same type behavior. It was a mental disorder and solved with medication. Some people do it for attention also. The silent treatment from family members will cure it (or at least spare people from listening to it) if it is an attention thing.

If you believe that this person suffers from a mental illness that affects them to such a degree that they are a danger to themselves or others, then you can file a report with your local police of DA. They will investigate it and if it is true, they can begin care and treatment proceedings. This may result in her being sent to a psyhc. hospital for a period of time.

These laws vary from state to state. If she doesn't fit into that category, the family should have nothing to do with her whatsoever.

I think, she just really need help. Those are things, you should never lie about. I don't think so, as she has not reported it. You can see for your self, that she needs some help.

Hope that she can find it.
