Hensley is correct, that sexual orientation is not a protected class, and therefore, under the federal work rules, you do not have a cause of action.
MOST states are employment at will states, which means that an employer can terminate you for any reason or even no reason, as long as its not for being a member of a protected class.
SOME states and cities have anti-discimination laws which protect sexual orientation. Some larger employers have even instituted such policies, even when not required to by law.
You will need to do some research to determine if your city or state has such a protection, and then if so, you would want to consult an employment law attorney for assistance. For more information, contact your local or state bar association.

How did you find out? Anyway, the first thing you need to do is find another source of income. If you decide to sue, it can take several years before you see a settlement, and you'll be wanting to eat occasionally until then. Look for a gig with better people to work with, you'll be happier at the job.
Or, you could take this as an opportunity to re-evaluate your financial priorities. Maybe you could start a small business and work for yourself? Then you can be as gay as you want to be, and F'em if they can't take a joke!

I'm sorry you lost your job. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do. This is simply one of those things in life that did not fall in your favor.... win some lose some.
Also, its not worth the effort. Your time would be well served finding another job where your particular lifestyle would be better received. You really don't want a job where you have to appear be something your not anyway.

Well you can sue to either regain your job, which you probably don't want after finding out the ethics of your former employers or you can file a discrimination suit and recover lost wages and damages. Go to an attorney who specializes in job related law and get his advise, he will want to know what your information is and what your proof is. If you found out because of a friend telling you, that is hearsay and unless they would be willing to testify to it, it won't be admitted in court.

To fire you because you are homosexual is job descrimination and is illegal. you should sue them for unlawful firing (I know there's anonther word). If you have proof this, than you have a strong case and should win, you should go to an attorney.
(I knnow life isn't the movies, but the same thing happened in the movie Philadelphia with denzel washington and tom hanks.)

Nothing. Sexual orientation is not a protected status under the constitution. It may some day become protected, but not now.
I am sorry, but it sounds like you were an "at will" employee. That means that either party can terminate the employment for no reason at all.

Sue for discrimination, and to (if you want it!) get your job back if you know for sure that's the reason.
