I am looking for clearly detailed and intelligent reasons that can make the case. Trying to anticipate and respond to how your opponents will say each of your reasons is not valid enough for given what has ensued. Lastly plead do not make any illogical logical leaps like "did you forget we were attacked on 9/11?". If you use 9/11 as a case, then you must make the link that iraq committed 9/11.

Mark A. you are gonna have to come a little stronger than that. Those reasons seem very weak especially in retrospect.

I love making arguments for the other side, so I'll give it a shot. Let it be known that I disagree with the arguments I'm about to make.
1) Saddam killed many thousands of his own people, and therefore had to be taken out.
- the deaths that we incurred by going in were just in that they will not be as continuous as if Saddam had stayed in power
- we are providing freedoms to those that are alive there that they could not have under Saddam
- it sets a principle that we are unwilling to allow despotic dictators to wreak havoc over their own country or others

2) It provides us with the image that we are willing to counteract any sort of terrorist plot or idea against us.
- even if this doesn't prevent any terrorist attacks, it gives people abroad and at home a reason not to join in on these attacks

3) Iraq is a central location in the middle east that has made declarations of hatred for Israel.
- this shows continued support for the country of Israel, which has had to field many wars against it from the surrounding countries
- we show that we are willing to come to it's aid when it is threatened by other countries
- we act as a direct deterrent by taking up a position in the middle east in which we have at least some control

Ok, I think that about does it. The second point's a bit weak, but it was hard to think of a third. Anyway, have fun with these, the arguments against them are simple enough but at least they're decently well backed up.

The link below is to the Congressional Authorization for Offensive Military Operations against Iraq which was passed by the Congress in October of 2002. The offensive did not begin until March 19, 2003. Scroll down and start reading after the first "whereas".

I am no expert, and probably lack more then a few facts but the way I see it our country is always doing stuff like that. Look at our past wars we have stepped into others country wars under the pretense of helping them. We value the freedom we have in USA. Hate to see it in others countries. It wasn't just our freedom our troops have been dying for.

As for 9-11 Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with. that's just where the focus went to after Bush realized we weren't getting anywhere with finding Bin laden.

My honest to god opinion of a major point to why Bush was so willing to invade Iraq, was he didn't want to lose control over the oil.
Others may disagree with me, but like i said it's my opinion.

1. Bush needed a scapegoat for 9/11 that would be an easy win for the military.

2. The PNAC had been pushing to attack the ME somewhere.

3. The Military Industrial Complex loved it.

4. Oh yeah - and the voices in his head told him to.

1 Protect oil reserves for US oil Companies
2 Provide opportunities for Halliburton to make huge profits
3 Junior wanted to get back at Saddam for threatening to kill his dad.

Those are the most valid reasons. There are no valid reasons making it just or moral.

Look at Iraq's history. There have been many other kingdoms and nations taken over Babylon - Iraq from the beginning. Authorities did not listen to God and broke his commandments - still people are like this today. Because of that, leaders paid their price. God gives his people chance after chance to do things right.

Hello people! God's plan is still at work here even through trouble times. God Bless all!

Don't hold your breath. You are looking for an intelligent response for an unintelligent position. You are far more likely to be called names or asked questions about bill clinton.

Iraq was threatening US dollar hegemony. If the USA goes into a recession, it will cause the world to go into a recession.

Is that a moral reason?I don't know.
