I've known women who've married guys they don't really care about just so that they could have a baby and a big house. I know there's pressure on women to get married, but, I mean, isn't there pressure on men too. Why aren't men so desperate? Why do successful, attractive, independant women still find it so necessary to find a husband

Women's ferility is only for a certain amount of time. Men can physically have a baby with their sperm when they are very old and frail. Women have a time frame they need to work in..because once menopause happens they can't have that family they wanted.
So women feel desperate because their time is more limited than a man. I hope that helps. Although, it doesn't excuse a woman for getting into a relationship where she doesn't care about the man simply because she wants a baby. That is what a sperm bank is for.

There's nothing wrong with marriage. Are you married? Anyways, women aren't desperate, first of all. Stop assuming that about married women because it's not true. We met men who we fell in love with and wanted to spend the rest of our lives with. We wanted children and a family and didn't want to go to a sperm bank and raise a child without their father so having a child with the man we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with made sense.
That's about it. And men do think about marriage and want it just like women when they've found a person they could see themselves being with forever.

Cybele,Being alone is being alone that is why !There is nothing so special as having someone there at the end of the day. All in all a career and a big house means nothing if when you go home ,the house is empty ! Men are as desperate ! But we are at womens mercy.

I don't know where you are getting your information from but, the reason that now we have the lowest divorce rate is because people are not getting married but living together Don't think who you know is the statistic.

In our modern technology world of today, things are different. In this atomic age of wizardry, men in these modern times of today are always changing. Our fast modern world of today, with its drive thrus and microwaves, makes men feel modern and current.
That's the problem with our fast-paced world of today - in this space age world of turkey baster insemination and Ellen Degeneres, women in our instant society feel pressure. Like an instant sandwich toasting machine at Subway. Boy that's some good eating, let me tell you - especially in this super duper fast society of tomorrow with its fast food and faster cars.

Don't know... Maybe the grass is greener syndrome. But, honestly I think it may be because they want to have a family so they don't end up "alone". Just my best guess.
