You only get points for thumbs up if you're chosen as the best answer. They are the same thing, but if 1,000,000 vote, and you get 1/3 of those votes, it's got to blow up your computer. Just thinking.

Nah. The votes decide the answer...it doesn't matter how many people like it if it doesn't win. The Thumbs Up is just a way to get more points because people agree with you.

That's because the actual questionaire awarded you best answer. If he doesn't award anyone best answer to his own question, he's not the one judging best answer, so it's not as big a reward if the Yahoo community awards you with it, than the person who asked the question. See what I mean?
