first of all, the plural of "hillbilly" is "hillbillies." Apostrophe-S implies possession of something: "[a] hillbilly's tooth," for instance (a single hillbilly's tooth - plural would be hillbillies' teeth).
Next, the word you spell "belive" is actually spelled "believe." Later in the sentence, you misspell Appalachian (which you correctly spelled previously, in the line above it).
Next, "big citiy" should be "big city." There is only one "I" in "city."
Next, in "their just as smart," you use the wrong "their." "Their" is possessive: "Their teeth," teeth belonging to "them." You want "They're" as a contraction of "they are:" "They are just as smart" becomes "They're just as smart."
"Gotta" is a common enough spoken contraction for "[It's] Got to [be]," but it is not proper spelling. The "Its" that precedes it is a contraction of "It is" so it should have an apostrophe.
As for why people think as you describe, I really can't say.

Whal ain't youse? No, I love the Appalachian mountains and their people. There is some wonderful artistry in that region. Music, musical instruments, dance, baskets, pottery.......
Just because a person is uneducated, as some are in that region, doesn't mean they are "dumb", they could teach the "big city" folk a thing or two. Like reconnect with the land. Actually know and interact with your neighbors. Lend a hand when needed. Personally, I have lived all over the country and North Carolina is where I feel most at home. Perhaps because my "people", the Celts, are the ones that settled that region. Have you ever noticed how similar Pub dancing from Ireland looks exactly like clogging w/o the arm movments? That music from Appalacia sound very like the music of the Celts?
May the end of stereotypes be with you.

I dont think people from the Appalachain region are dumb. I have lived in Philadelphia most of my life and I have never thought that. Now Texas, that's a different story...

It's a snobbery thing. We all like to think we are the most educated, brilliant beings on the planet. It's human nature to pick the people group most different from our own beliefs, and way of life, and villainize them or question their intelligence. Most of our perceptions, of the Appalachian way of life, come from TV made in New York or California. I would guess that very few of those producers actually know anyone from the Appalachian area personally.

I think movies like Deliverance hurt allot. Also images of the Hatfields and McCoys didn't help. Beverly Hillbillies is another contributor to the slander. There are more examples to be sure but these are the ones that come to mind about why people have the impression they do.

It could be the accent. One of the first things an educated person will observe is a culture's ability to read, write, spell, and express themselves intelligently.
I think a lot of it has to do with Hollywood and certain novels portraying "hillbillies" in a certain light.
But it always goes to show where one's intelligence really lies . . . that is, how quick they are to judge something they know nothing about.
And a lot of people forget, education does not always mean one is intelligent, and one can still have intelligence without being formally educated.

It's an unfortunate stereotype that's been spread by the media and TV. Southerners (specifically, Appalachians) are no more or less "dumb" than other people.
It's as bad as saying all black people are dumb, or all fat people are dumb.
Same hatred, just a different guise.

Many people are ignorant of different ways of life or cultures. A lot of people in America think that everyone should be just like them or there's something wrong with them. It's just ignorance.

It's mainly because they invented the tooth brush. If anyone else invented it then it would have been called the 'teeth' brush.
