Odds are it wouldn't shake it up at all.
All that would happen is the Democrats would accuse him of acting too quickly, and being anti-American, hypocracy be damned.

Beyond the fact it will never happen, any troop reductions would be meaningless in the face of everything else that's gone wrong with the republican party.
Anyone with any sense would never allow the number of candidates to split the vote as badly as the republicans have (granted the democrats are doing almost as bad, but at least they have candidates who can be elected).
Focus instead on the choices for the republican candidate for president. McCain? Giuliani? Paul?!? Please...
Bush could give every voter in the US a million dollars each if they promised they would vote republican and they'll still lose. That's how much hate there is for their style of government.

Let's all watch the Presidential Address tonight. The General recommends a sliding scale of removal. A flip flop will be no surprise with this election. But... Pelosi is still b*itching and it's not enough. Foot in mouth disease abounds. Watch them return to witch hunts and entrapments, whatever it takes to divert attention from core issues. This campaign is not about some target TV ads anymore. You got the Clinton's in town.

no. simply put. nothing is ever good enough for the left... damn if you do, damn if you don't. do something about Iraq.. you stayed to long... do something about global terrorism.. you didn't do it correctly.. protect us at home.. you take away too many liberties.. listen to the generals on the ground.. their liers and only want to cater to Bush... have a plan of returning troops home.. you're not returning enough home.. it's mind-boggling.

It would show, for once in his life, that Bush is not the most stubborn leader on the planet. It may not get him a whole lot of support, but history might not look so badly on him as it would on his current course.

I doubt at this point that it would have any effect on the election. Bush has already gone beyond the point of no return.

I don't know what you are insinuating, but if you think he
would do that to help the Republicans win in '08, then you would
be very misguided. No one could have said clearer than Huckabee said to Ron Paul that our honor comes before
our party.
