most likley it wont end, it will just get worse and worse until we are telling criminals that its the victims fault for their crime, that they are just messed up individuals that need help.
They are messed up, but there is nothing we can do to help them.
As for stupid people who cant accept responsibility for there actions, well, one word. Politicians.

So are you saying its all right with you if the Chinese put lead in childrens toys? After all, its stupid kids that mouth them and get poisoned. Or the other sundry damaging things that are kept from us, like negative info on drugs that comes out years after the damage is done. Funding and rehab for addictions and the mentally challenged are so low anyway that they are functionally useless. Sometimes criminals wear white collars, look like all of us, and cheat the bejesus out of the elderly and the confused. Shouldn't they be the ones that are held accountable? Or just the people they cheat, for being stupid?
It isn't soft to care for those who are unable, through birth or accident or illness or age. Its the responsibility of the state to care for the least of its citizens, or would you rather have all of them out on the street? I always hear a lot of complaints but never any practical solutions, and what we have now is so minimal as to leave thousands alone and unprotected.
I'd rather see and end to corporate welfare, huge agricultural payoff for non-family farms, no bid contracts for the war, then we might have some room for meaningful rehab and heath and safety. Did you know that all the toys in the US go through one man to check for safety? Mostly what he does is drop them to see if they break. How much do you think he gets? How much do you think it takes to care for the child rendered mentally incapacitated by lead? Where would you rather spend it?
Is the opposite of political correctness, rudeness, nastiness, carelessness and crudity? If so it seems we do not lack for that now.

I am not sure i agree with your views on compensation because people don't always have a say in their misfortune but political correctness drives me mad. Also i think the 'human rights bill' is totally over the top. Like the burglar who was chased for miles by police and then he climbed up onto a roof and started hurling roof tiles at the police. He was up their ages and so as not to violate his human rights they had to go to a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant an buy him lunch. WTF!

Gone stupid? Thank the teachers unions. Too much BS being taught in schools and parents are AWOL. History being rewritten (wrong) and math non existent.
A HS senior in the Publix didn't know what Dec 7 was.

First and foremost, convicted criminals are still people and civil and human rights in this country are afforded to all individuals. Second, individuals who are charged with a crime are presumed innocent and must be treated accordingly.
Remember, you're not immune from being wrongfully charged with a crime and I imagine you'd want all the rights that the country affords to you in that situation.

i) "In his book, The End of Sanity, Martin Gross writes that 'blatantly irrational behavior is rapidly being established as the norm in almost every area of human endeavor. There seem to be new customs, new rules, new anti-intellectual theories regularly foisted on us from every direction. Underneath, the nation is roiling. Americans know something without a name is undermining the nation, turning the mind mushy when it comes to separating truth from falsehood and right from wrong. And they don't like it.' ...Before you claim to be a champion of free thought, tell me: Why did political correctness originate on America's campuses? And why do you continue to tolerate it? Why do you, who're supposed to debate ideas, surrender to their suppression? Let's be honest. Who here thinks your professors can say what they really believe? It scares me to death, and should scare you, too, that the superstition of political correctness rules the halls of reason. You are the best and the brightest. You, here in the fertile cradle of American academia, here in the castle of learning on the Charles River, you are the cream. But I submit that you, and your counterparts across the land, are the most socially conformed and politically silenced generation since Concord Bridge. And as long as you validate that...and abide it...and you are- by your grandfathers' standards-cowards....If you talk about race, it does not make you a racist. If you see distinctions between genders, it does not make you a sexist. If you think critically about a denomination, it does not make you anti-religion. If you accept but don't celebrate homosexuality, it does not make you a homophobe." Charlton Heston, February 16, 1999, Harvard Law School Forum. (www.narila.org/ila/hestonhs.htm)

Yes and yes again! So many liberals want to give hand-outs just to get votes. But on the other side, we don't want to see third world country policies running our country.
