Why not purple? Why not light blue? Is yellow significant? Am I over looking something?

You would have to ask Ringo that question. He was always off in the clouds with his lyrics.... Octopus' Garden was another one. A man, yet still a child. Bloody drummers !! :P

It was probably just because it's a bright and sunny color, totally different from of the military gray of most submarines. The song is about a pleasure craft, not a military sub. It just has a nice ring to it too. "Light blue submarine" just wouldn't roll off the tongue the same way or fit the music as well.

"Yellow submarine" fit the music.

Now go watch the movie. The color of the boat won't the the only thing that baffles you.
