George Washington owned slaves?
Alexander Hamilton was a bastard?
Charles Francis Adams, great great great grandson of John Adams was the CEO of Raytheon during the missile build up after World War Two, and a war profiteer no less than Dick Cheney.
Robert Livingston, the man who administered the oath of office to George Washington was the richest man in New York?
The soldiers in the Revolutionary War were ill clothed, ill fed, and short of ammunition and were not even paid all that was entitled to them? How much different from Donald Rumsfeld's famous, "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you want".
Best bash wins!

What's to bash? The truth? Not that I was ever big on don rumsfield (lower case with great intent), but he DID have prior experience as SecDef (See Jerry Ford).
Washingon owned over 200,000 acres, making him an elitist here, but back in the mother country, he was very much looked down upon for living in those dirty little colonies. He was also a lousy military leader. He got most of his men killed fighting in the French Indian Wars.
Benedict Arnold was on the contrary, a GREAT military leader. Most serving in the continental army went upaid and often times would switch sides. But because Arnold (hero at Ticonderoga and Saratoga) was a close, personal "friend" of Washington's, and planned to turn over the fort at West point as well as Washington (to Col. Clinton), has been forever labelled as this country's #1 Traitor.
Wanna play screw ball with history? Joseph Kennedy made the family fortune by selling bootleg whiskey during the prohibition. Became friends with FDR and was ultimately granted ambassorship to Nazi Germany. Was recalled for having gotten a little too friendly. Kennedy groomed his boys for politics. JFK served as senator along side Nixon and Ford.
Nixon became VP under Eisenhower, plotted the overthrow of Iran. JFK became president and got us into Vietnam -- at the urgings of Nixon and was later assassinated. Ford was on the Warren Commission -- sold everyone on the "Magic Bullet" theory. Nixon, eventually became president and made Ford his VP after Agnew. Ford became president. His SecDef was Rumsfield. Bush junior get's shot at being president and has Rumsfiled as SecDef.. Sound like a conspiracy theory? Something only the likes of Oliver Stone could come up with? Who was Bush's class mate at Yale? Oliver Stone... Just a little "Dime Store History."

He is just another fat, loathsome, spoiled brat propagandist, most of his key points are lies or exaggerations or bizarre distortions, and he knows less about the Constitution and the Founding Fathers than the average orangutan. I never heard this sissy quote a volume, a case number, a page, or any precedents of any kind, nor have I heard the lowlife moron quote from an opinion. I did, in my few moments of listening to this slugwitted fool, hear him misdescribe any number of provisions, and lie about the founding fathers. I doubt he has ever read anything more judicial or scholarly than a comic book. Why do people watch these moronic infomercials for hate? I can't even tolerate what few are on that agree, generally, with my OWN politics, let alone these rotten-to-the-core Nazis. I can understand why this ignorant poof wants to claim, for example, that Nazis are "leftists". It is bold-faced lie, of course, agreed to by every single authority in the literature and hundreds of texts, but this illiterate toad can get away with the lie because his audience is even more ill-informed that this dimwitted coward liar. And it makes his particular brand of unvarnished hatred a little easier to peddle. That's what he and the others are: cheap peddlers of ignorance, error, and hatred. Moreover, their constant factual errors make them a laughing stock to anyone familiar at all with the subject matter.

Doc, you state a lot of stuff in history that I don't doubt may be true. But the question was about the founding fathers, (yes you do mention Washington) but most of your post is about the 1900's era. ;)
...back to the question..All I could say is most people would probably say it's ironic that Thomas Jefferson was all for civil rights and the right to choose/vote, be represented and simply have a say in what your government is doing etc. But he owned slaves himself and I doubt that he let his slaves choose and exercise rights. But with that being said, I still believe that he was the greatest and most patriotic American that has ever lived!
The other founding fathers including Jefferson, did have their quirks some were religious and some weren't. Some like Ben Franklin had strong ties to Britain, in fact he sided with Britain until they blind sighted him and put him in jail. Then he changed his tune and turned to the colonies side.
All things considered I still say the founders had guts to stand up against the crown and to do what they did took huge balls of steel!
So yeah this really isn't a bash. I do respect them very much!

If you are not a member of the Communist Party you should look into them.
They beilieve alot like you do.
30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."
