I have lived, through choice, without a car, satellite TV, a mobile phone, an i-Pod, a dish washer.

But I do spend £10,000 every year on holidays.

I can get by happily with no TV just Radio

Cars are pointless when there is your legs and good public transport. I have my hands for a dishwasher.

Microwaves take the fun and art out of cooking

Long given up caring about MP3's and the like also

I have a 20.00 mobile but no landline. I had a flash mobile once and they last about 2 years. the cash spent over life expectancy equation did not add up.

I could get by without the internet but I really do like it, as it more than pays for itself in deals on everything cheaper than in the stores and you get the stuff delivered to your door, as well as being an excellent research tool

The video recorder era completely passed me by. Satellite TV has passed me by (and so has regular TV now). No DVD player, no dishwasher, only just got a washing machine when I had a baby, no dryer, and quite a lot of times, no central heating. No car (apart from a period of 18 months when I really needed one to get to work. Talk about money down the drain!!) Only got a phone of our own at age 14 (!!!!) Had a PlayStation but that was for work.

Also, I don't own many CDs. I'm a vinyl junkie :-) I hate the mobile phone as it just leads to increased nosiness and suspicion. I'm not even keen on landlines, to be honest!

I hate everything. Give me a hoop and a stick, or a big bit of patchwork, or an old oildrum to bang... But don't take my computer away!!

I wouldn't consider satellite tv or tv a necessity. I could live without them but since I don't live alone. It's not really an option for me. When I lived on my own, I lived without cable. It was great. I could live without my computer if I didn't need it for school. I take online classes but decent colleges are too far away and it would be too expensive. (time, driving, etc.)
An ipod is not a necessity. It's entertainment. I have one but I worked for it. I paid for it. Dishwashers are necessity because it is more economical to wash your dishes at once versus by hand. I do both. Some items need to be handwashed.

Mine is a dishwasher, microwave, Ipod and watch! Wish I could live without a car but being in the sticks makes it difficult.

Like you though holidays are a complete must!

I spent a few years without even a normal TV. Sometimes I still regret getting one.
