I think that the packages of both 'hot dogs' and 'buns' should have the 'same amount' in them ... but believe it or not, there's a good reason they don't ... that is that 'not everyone' wants a bun on their hot dog, and some people 'mess up' the buns and want a new one ... and some people just want the 'bun' ... as for me, I haven't even HAD a 'hot dog' for over 11 years now ... and never will again. But when I had kids, and their friends came for dinner ... I got 'really frustrated' with the same 'problem' of not having a 'same number' of hot dogs to buns. It's sort of 'nice' knowing that the same problem is 'still going on' ... it means that the world is 'just the same' at a 'basic' level, and THAT makes me feel much better.

It's a marketing ploy - you have to buy more of one or the other until you're out. Otherwise, you end up wasting the remaining buns or dogs. It doesn't matter if you only need 8, you can only buy 10, etc.

cause if you drop it you can get a new bun and just re-use the weeny? the packs i see come 8 and 8 unless you buy the big pack of buns then there are 12 which doesn't make sense because you cant buy a 12 pack of dogs! its a conundrum

By having mis-matched amounts of buns/package vs franks/package both manufacturers stand to make more money.

It's a conspiracy by the hot dog and bun makers to drive you mad by getting you to buy more and more in an effort to even everything up which is impossible.

It is to make the poor people who buy them have to spend more to ensure a balance of both.
I don't like hotdogs, so I get steak and chicken.

The ones I purchase do. Unless I specifically purchase 12" hot dogs...can't find the buns for those babies!

It used to be like that, but now I think they come in the same amount. Unless I just found a special combination.
