Are they 87 and the 91 interchangeable?

If not an 87, is there any other year that is interchangeable with a 91 Suburban without modifications? In other words, what are my options for a 91 suburban?

yes it will fit, any axle from a 73-87 pickup or 73-91 blazer or suburban will fit.

ANY decent GM mechanic should know they would swap, and that just about anything from the 73-91 body style GM trucks is interchangeable (minus some sheet metal or electronic stuffs).

You may want to check w/ the gang over @ FSC.com to make sure on the measurements.

But, I know back when I had to swap the rear-end in my 91 Silverado Z71. I was told only the yrs. 88-98 were a direct swap. Now, I would think that applied to Burb, also. But, I'm not sure on that, the length maybe different.

Then again, you may want check out the car-parts.com and see what you can in your areathat will fit.

Good luck!

No, they are not interchangeable. To make the older one fit will require a bunch of mods to the suspension. I even think the wheel base is wider on the old ones. Stick with the new.
