It depends on many factors, including the type of antibiotic, how much you take, how long you take it .Some antibiotics are generally considered safe to take throughout pregnancy. In all cases, the potential risk of a drug needs to be carefully weighed against the potential harmful effects if left untreated. If taking antibiotic is the only way to cure illness, a doctor will prescribe the safest drug possible at the safest dosage possible. Juts be sure to tell whoever doctor you consult with that you are into pregnancy, so he could also take it as a factor in prescribing medicine.

Yes. Actually it is better to get rid of infection. Antibiotics doesn't harm your chances of conceiving, the infection will tho, which I am assuming you have because of your asking of this question. Plus, if you get pregnant and you still have the infection it can cause a miscarriage.

In the BNF (British National Formulary, and doctors bible for prescribing) it says they are 'not known to be harmful', and believe me, if the drug company had even the tiniest hint or suspicion that it could be harmful to baby they would say so. Your GP knew you were pregnant so would not have prescribed them if unsafe, you would only be taking a small dosage anyway but of course its best to steer clear of any drug when you are pregnant even though sometimes you have to give in. I understand your worry, so if you are at all concerned try homeopathic remedies instead, honey and lemon and paracetamol if you are feverish. Best of luck.

No way! You should make sure that you have at least 3 months of being antibiotic free!

I would for sure ask a professional wether it be our doctor, or the pharmacist, before taking anything while trying to concieve. If you will be taking it between your period and ovulation, i would et that that is fine, but if it is after ovulation waiting for your period, then ask. You wouldn't want something to go wrong just because you didn't ask.

I would talk to the doctor about it. Some are probably ok but others might not be.

Only if it is one of the ones that is safe during pregnancy, ask the pharmacist.
