Wow... Area 51 is not in New Mexico. Area 51 is also known as the Groom Lake Facility. It is a very high-security military airbase located on the Groom Dry Lakebed in the central Nevada desert.
Its existence has been denied for a long time but the government more recently acknowledged its existence, mostly because it's pretty much impossible to hide it anymore, with things like Google Earth and russian spy satellites seeing it.
It has long been a favorite of alien conspiracy theorists as a place where crashed/captured alien spacecraft are kept and researched. More likely it is just a place where secret experimental aircraft are tested. The F-117 nighthawk stealth fighter was probably tested there before its existence was made public.

It's in Nevada, northwest of Las Vegas. It is definitely not in or near Roswell.
In Area 51 they test and develop advanced (but not alien) aircraft. Example: the F-117s were initially tested there in the 1980s before being moved to another adjacent area for night-time flight testing, and being deployed (and made public) in the late 1980s / early 90s
Things that are being developed in Area 51 right now might see combat in 2020 and beyond, and when they are made public they will astound both you and the enemies of the US.

It's an old military base in Roswell, New Mexico that the government denies exists. Supposedly a UFO crashed there in the 50s and the wreckage and alien bodies were taken to Area 51 by the Air Force.

Only Arkalius gave a reasonably good answer; Area 51 is
in Nevada, northwest of Las Vegas. The armed forces
use it as a test site - for what? Aircraft? weapons?
Who knows... that's the reason it is kept secret!
