Because apparently, that's where Bush gets all his ideas. God told him to be President, God told him to go to war, God is his shoulder to cry on. So, why do we trust this man?

Wow, we all got our little panties in a bunch awfully quick over this one.

1. I am not, nor do I claim to be a member of "moveon.org". It's a BS organazation that I would not associate myself with.
2. If you feel as though I'm an "anti-Christian bigot" that's fine. I don't agree with religion. But I am not a bigot. If you are entitled to worship a God you believe exists, I'm entitled to tell you that I don't think God exists at all.
3. All your answers have made me sad inside. I'm sorry that you've all become mouthpieces for the worst administration to ever grace the White House.

So who are you trusting to tell you these things? And while you're at it, link your information about where Bush has said God "told" him to do anything.

If there is a God I sure would like to be a fly on the wall when George W. Bush meets him. And by the way dear you have every rite to feel how you feel and believe what you believe. That is the best part of being an American. Isn't it ironic that the ultra religious people tent to be the ultra patriotic people any yet they thumb their noses at the very heart of the constitution....... and the very thing that brought us together is this land. Our ancestors came here to avoid being forced into any religion, and then wrote the constitution and the declaration of Independence to making freedom of religion and of speech our official foundation. They are Hippocrates. You can't have it both ways you right wing morons!

Because we are, unfortunately dear, a minority, or possibly an under represented majority. I too, wish the spaghetti monster worshiper out of office. I believe there is a God, I am Pagan, I am Wiccan, and I don't believe that any God whispers into anyone's ears the way that Bush claims he has a hot line...
Yes, he did say that God told him to do those things.
Having said all of that... You are right, these Christian / Republicans do have their panties in a bunch. If all of them did a bit more research, they would all become liberal.
For example, we are rebuilding their country, our bridges are collapsing. Our people are homeless and starving. The money spent just one year on the defense budget would build a house for every four people in this nation, and pay its utilities for a full year. There would be an end to homelessness in America. We could be using the money spent rebuilding their country to rebuild ours, have health insurance for everyone, and enough food on shelves and in refrigerators.
Before you all get upset at me.... Allow me to remind you that charity begins at home.
I'm sorry all those idiots made you feel sad. YA is full of people who just want to make fun of others.
Be blessed for speaking your mind.

The trouble with this question is that most people have not read a book called "Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism" so they have no idea how Bush manipulated the mega churches in middle America.

Now, the book, by Michelle Goldberg, is a truly awesome work and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in politics, religion and anything in between.

I would also recommend the documentary film Jesus Camp (in which we are shown, among other things, large numbers of Baptist children being taught to pray in front of a cardboard cutout of President Bush).

It is absolutely astounding the way religion is manipulated by politics (instead of the other way around as we have been taught to believe).

No.

No more than I would trust anyone who claims Allah, Jehovah, the Buddha, Siva, the Earth Mother, the Sky Father, Amaterasu, the voices, a burning bush, etc. made them do it.

jrldsmith says:
[begin quotation]
1) He has never said God told him to be Pres. or go to war. So some proof, link, anything instead of "This the way I WANT it to be so I'll just say it".
2) If you don't agree with the Christian religion, fine. That is your right. But you just made yourself look like an anti-Christian bigot.
[end quotation]

Here are the links for Bush claiming God told him to go to war:
http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/article317805.ece - "I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.' And I did, and then God would tell me, 'George go and end the tyranny in Iraq,' and I did."

As far as I can tell, Bush has not claimed God made him president. A number of his supporters have made that claim for him, including General Boykin. Here’s a link:

jrldsmith looks like an anti-reality bigot. I take it he thinks that tiny faeries make his internet connection work?

Depends. Can your spaghetti monster walk on water and turn water into wine?I thought so

We don't trust him anymore,we stopped trusting him long ago.Their is a small loud minority who keep believing his lies and lunacy and try to label anyone who dissents as a traitor but more and more people are waking up to reality and realizing the truth.

BTW when Bush thought God spoke to him it was actually Cheney using the intercom. He's not the brightest guy to ever sit in the oval office

why did an entire country follow a dictator on a road of genocide 60 years ago?
people are idiots, quite blatantly, and every so often one will come along who is an idiot, but with a certain charisma and will get elected a leader.
maybe he is just schizophrenic but chaney won't let that get out.
usually that's what they diagnose people who talk to those who are not there.

OH Gee, so many blame their actions on Mohammad too.
So why not God?
Since no one really claims responsiblity for their own actions.

True?????

Who said we trust him? NO ME-
I would have voted for Bill the Bjob if he and run again, after a four year absence. At least we knew, what deals were happening under the table there!

I've heard the President say he believed in God.
I've never heard the President say "God Made Me Do" anything. What channel are you watching?
