I keep hearing over and over how American is a "Christian" nation. And the Christians keep talking about the Ten Commandments as if they actually believe them.
Well one of those Commandments is "Honor your father and your mother." That means among other things, you take care of them in their old age. It is the responsibility of the children to care for their parents, not the government. If some old person needs to be in a nursing home then the kids should pay the bills. If the person needs a care taker at home and the children do not want to do it, then they should be taxed for that also.
Parents gave the kids life. It is not too much to require the kids to care for their parents.

None, this is not a nanny state. But institutions that provide health care to citizens of all ages are subject to rules and regulations.

i assumed you are a sinkie by asking this question..
i think every government should provide shelter, food and health care for all the old, sick and needy regardless of how heavy responsibility they are......if not, y should we need the government for? sickening to see them relying on donations and blarr blarr blarr....And they shouldnt shouldnt have ulterior motive on their hard earned saving.....
