If you are taking your BBT and it increases does this mean that this is your first day of ovulation or does it mean it will occur in a few days?

When your BBT has a marked increase, this indicates that you have already ovulated. The temperature rise is a result of the hormone progesterone, which is released after ovulation. Your BBT will remain elevated until you get your period, or, if you are pregnant, will remain elevated past the time you would have expected your period to arrive.

When you have a rise in temp, it can be on sudden spike or gradually over a couple of days, then that means you have ovulated. Usually by this time, it is to late. Go to www.fertilityfriend.com. They have a free chart you can use and it will tell you when you ovulated based on your temperature and Cervical Mucus. That is what I use.

You can look at my chart if you would like to see when I ovulated. The day after i ovulated my temp went up, and it slowly made its way the next couple of days.

first go to www.fertilityfriend.com do all your charting there. Its free and you can log all you back information, if you have been taking temps for days or weeks log it all in.

your temp will rise and fall all through your cycle but will stay right around the same .... right before you ovulate you will see a drop in tem and the day you ovulate your temp will spike, anywhere from .3 degree or more. that will need to stay above that temp for at least 4 days to be considered that you have ovulated.

its really hard to tell just by looking at your temps on a piece of paper thats why most of us use online logs or programs.

FertilityFriend its totally free by the way!!!

When your temp rises 0.2-0.4 degrees or higher it indicates that you have already ovulated and the egg is dead and gone by then if it wasn't fertilized.
