What musical artist should just stop now, because they have nothing more to say or offer -- or maybe they've just become a parody of themselves -- and they are just re-hashing their past to their fans?

It pains me to say this, as I've been a fan for 30+ years...but KISS needs to just stop. They have become their own tribute band, and aren't even attempting to be musically creative anymore.

Rod Stewart

and I love him, I truly do. But when he did the "standards" I was all - that's it, he needs to go on home with that crap.

I generally agree with most of the other respondents' choices, but the Rolling Stones should be at the top of the list. They haven't made any interesting new music in 20 years. Bill Wyman was smart enough to retire!

My next two choices would be Rod Stewart -- if I want to listen to standards, Tony Bennett (even now!) and Michael Buble are far superior performers -- and Aerosmith, who jumped the shark with that awful Dianne Warren song.

Never did like KISS very much. Without the face paint, all they ever were was a mediocre heavy metal motley crew.

I was however a fan the Beach Boys at one time (as was everybody), but I think Brian Wilson should really hang it up if he hasn't already. His voice just ain't what it used to be.

Agreed on Kiss. It's past time... especially with the scabs on stage now. You know it's just a matter of tme before Nick is wearing the demon make-up and somebody else is standing in for Paul.

Also, in light of all this Led Zeppelin gaga... to copy what I posted on another question:

"I know everybody gets their panties in a wad over Zeppelin and everything, but they rank right up there with The Doors and Nirvana as being the most over rated bands of all time. Listen to "Achilles Last Stand" or "Tea for One" and tell me where the genius is. Sure, their first few albums were great, but half of those songs were recylced blues tunes.

I saw Page and Plant when they did their thing about ten years ago, and guess what.... they were awful. Plant's voice is pretty much crap these days, and there's a big reason Page hasn't been consistently putting out new material."

Finally... Ozzy needs to quit. Everything he does now is just a black mark on his legacy. It was bad enough that the stupid reality show came out, but his last three albums have just been horrid. He's become a parody and a joke, but Sharon keeps shuffling his dead *** out there to keep lining her pockets.

Kiss, The Stones, Styxx, Foreigner, Def Leopard, Ted Nugget and any of the 60/70's bands that play the county/state fair and casino circuits.

I disagree with Dylan, Modern Times, his last album is brilliant. Hell, his last three records are really well made, and his live show is fantastic.

I vote for the Rolling Stones. Their old stuff was good, but does anyone actually buy their new stuff? Mick knows he's a self parody of his younger self.

The Rolling Stones
Kiss
R.E.M.
Pearl Jam

These artists have nothing more to offer, they keep going because they have a loyal fanbase who fell in love with them back when they were interesting. These artists may still sell out stadiums when they do concerts, but when is the last time they recorded a song anyone cared about?

I was going to put KISS and The Rolling Stones at the head of the class. Some others.

Paul McCartney
U2

Keith Richards needs to give it a rest.

How dare anyone say Bob Dylan. He's still making great music.

Darryl Hall. His voice just isn't what it used to be. Notice the contrast in the videos. He can't hit the high notes any more.

No one...whether you like it or not, these artists have fans and a passion for music. They should keep on performing, playing, and recording as long as their hearts are with it.
