I'm 31 week preggo and my nipples are like RIDICULOUSLY dark. they used to be a cute and small and caramel colored and now they are hideous. i know this is normal but will they ever change back? I feel like one of those half naked indian tribe women who have big scary almost black looking nipples. What do I do? When will I see them change back?

and also... so you can have breast augmentation or breast lift or breast reduction to change the size and look of your breasts BUT has anyone ever heard doing any type of procedure that changes your nipples? in particular the color? Or are there any creams or anything that help lighten them?

Mommies, what can i do? My boyfriend makes fun of me! He says he loves me all the same but still I get really self conscious about them.

I think your nipples go back to normal, or at least almost back to normal, after you have the baby and finish breast feeding, if you choose to do so. But I'm not sure on that.
Yes, you can get surgery to change your nipples size, but its kind of risky. Because it involves removing the nipple and cutting it down to size then reattatching it, it can result in loss of sensation and inability to nurse in the future. Few women like the idea of numb nipples.
I have never heard of anyone just getting thier nipples done. I have only heard of this proceedure being done as part of a breast reduction, to reduce the nipple size to one more appropriate for the new, smaller breast.
I can understand being self conscious about your breasts and nipples. I hate my boobs. After I have this baby and finish nursing, I am finally going to get the breast reduction I've always wanted!

It's not a freak of nature that your body is doing that. In fact it is actually the whole point. You nipples are getting bigger and darker becuase when babies are born their eyesight is not fully developed. If you are trying to breast feed your baby it is easier for them to see something big and dark then small and pink. Don't worry about it...I breast fed both my children for over 7 months each and after I finished they went back to almost normal (both times). I say almost normal because when you are pregnant your body undergoes some major changes and it is near impossible to be exactly the same after being stretched out, filled in, and deflated. The do get lighter after you are done producing milk. And they will shrink back down too. And for the boyfriend, tell him he made you look like you do so shut up about it already.

They will go back to normal when you are done breastfeeding. And yes if you are that concerned about the possibility of them not returning to normal, there are procedures that can be done to reduce the size of the nipple, I am not sure if you can change the color. And as far as your boyfriend goes, you need to as politely as possible let him know that this is something you are feeling very self-conscience about right now, and his support would be appreciated. While he is just joking around in his mind, it is hurting your feelings and making you upset. My hubby made a few less than nice remarks about my nipples early in the pregnancy and didn't understand that it was really embarrassing me. Guess what, he hasn't seen them since....I wish you the best of luck, try not to stress to bad about it as there is nothing you can do at the moment.

Get rid of the immature boyfriend because if he is making fun of younow, imagine what he will do later. Your body is going through dramatic change and for some women, it never goes back to normal, and I am not only talking about the stretchmarks. Nipple discoloration happens to some women but just to be on the safe side, ask your OBGYN to check it out.

This happens to pretty much everyone. Let me say this though-you need to be worried about having a healthy pregnancy instead of focusing on the color of your nipples. Once the baby comes, you won't have the time to worry about anything else but taking care of your baby anyways. Good Luck!

forget about your nipples and think about the fact you are about to bring a new creation into this world and it is up to you how they end up in this world . Plus you are doing something no man will ever experience, good luck and I hope everything goes smooth and your baby comes out with ten toes and ten fingers and no problems.

Don't worry, they'll go back to their normal color a few weeks after the baby is born.
(Mine also got HUGE in diameter!!! I was completely amazed.)
