I just bought a laptop and a wireless router. I am from america and and going to England.

I have the laptop, the wireless router, and an adapter so I can use their electrical sockets

Is that enough to use anywhere I can find the electrical outlets to power the router. Do I need anything else?

If you are only going for 2 weeks, I assume you will be using someone elses wireless network. Your new laptop should already have a wireless adapter. That is all you need.

If you are going to live in England - you have all you need. But for a short stay of less than a month your router will be as much use as '**** on a bull' because it will take that long to get an ISP up and running.

Well, you're fully prepared so long as you have an ISP waiting for you in England. Right?

The router gets you nothing if you don't have an access point to the internet (an ISP). So, when you arrive in England, will you be staying with someone with internet access?

Good luck!

Do you have a voltage converter for the router, this needs to be a 230v input model, otherwise it will blow up. Also check the power pack for the laptop to see it has something like a 90v - 230v range. If it is just 100v you have a problem.

Your router will need to comply with UK telecom regulations. You may want to check that it does before taking it there and plugging it in (that is, if you're using it as an access point to the internet too).

Good luck, and enjoy the UK !!

As long as your laptop has a wireless adapter installed (and I presume that it does), then you are fully prepared for your trip. Enjoy.
