Having had five children, and having been through many colds which includes congestion, I was always advised to stay clear of as many dairy products as possible especially milk and cheese. At 10 months your child is eating more food and not as dependent on milk as the sole source of their diet. I'd give maybe 3 bottles a day...morning, noon and maybe the last bottle in the early evening...I wouldn't give the last bottle as milk as this will congest him or her...but rather give them juice. Has your doctor recommended a vaporizer or a humidifier?? while their sleeping? From my experience, it seems that babies while congested, sleep easier on their sides as opposed to being on their backs...but that's just my experience...hope i helpled..

I was always told when my girls were ill to feed them the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. They are mild foods that won't upset the tummy and won't thicken mucus like dairy seems to. But, when in doubt contact your child's doctor and ask.

you can give rice cereal, oatmeal cereal mashed sweet potatoes[add some organic milk or formula to liquify].If you like to give homecooked food, you can cook rice + milk and cook until well done mix tiny bit of sugar for taste or you can cook cracked wheat +mushrooms+chicken +water together when cooked churn it in the blender[add salt to taste].Very nutricious for the baby and will fill him too for 3-4 hrs.
