So, I went to the PETA website thinking maybe I could buy something off of it to support their organization. I was completely appalled to see the horrific, disgusting, unreal pictures they have on their front page. I understand they want to let people know what going on but I couldn't even look at their page, it almost made me vomit. I want to support an organization for animal rights that doesn't go to such disgusting extremems, I may agree with their principles but not their tactics.

ASPCA
Humane Society
These should have local chapters in your area that you can support...many areas have local animal rights groups (for example in my area we have a group called SOAR- Southport/Oak Island Animal Rescue..)...you should check your local yellow pages for groups particular to area as well as the state and national level organizations...
there are MANY deserving groups out there...

I actually heard that PETA burned down a mink mill in the name of animal welfare with the animals STILL INSIDE! How sick is that??? Sadly the Humane Society are now supporters of PETA also.

I would recommend the SPCA, the National Wildlife Federation or look in your area for privately owned rescues. Good luck and thanks for being on the side of animals!

Yeah PETA definately goes to extremes to get their point across. I'm honestly not really sure how much good they really do. I heard that they were upset with college football teams for using animal names. They say that its exploiting animals. But there are probably local groups in your area that you would be able to help out. I know that we have some in are area. You could ask around at petstores and stuff and they might know of some.

PETA are a bunch of hypocrites. They kill most of the animals they take in their shelters and they lie. For instance they lie about the fur trade...all those pictures and videos you see of animals being skinned they like to show? Those were taken in farms in China, and have since been shut down. Most fur sold here in America is raised on American farms and killed humanely. Don't believe me? Next time you're in a fur store check out the tags inside the coats. They should have the country where the fur is from listed as well as the country where it was pieced together. They also exagerrate the conditions in slaughterhouses and show videos and pictures, once again, from slaughterhouses that have since been shut down. Those are just a couple of examples. They are also terrorists and have even sent death threats to people.

I would suggest checking out the ASPCA instead.

I agree completely with your perception of PETA. I have seen, first handed, the harm that they can and have done, all in the name of "getting attention" that they need to acquire funds.

I prefer to work with our local groups that unselfishly and tangibly help animals and don't just have actions that glorify the association itself.

Give your money and time to your local shelter. Those dogs and cats have the 'right' not to be euthanized, don't they?

Hands on work will show you exactly where your money goes. You will see the faces of those you help to save and this will make you feel so good.

Thanks for wanting to help- don't get snookered by unscrupulous folks who just want your money for their own purposes- NOT to help animals.

I do not agree with killing animals inhumanely, or killing them for fun.

however, i believe god DID put them on earth for us to eat.

IF nobody put the animals to sleep they would all die of disease and malnutrition, from overpopulation.

i HATE the fact that people dump off pets at a shelter, because they arent "cute" anymore. ugh.
