I am on my second pregnancy and once again and having major heart burn. I try to deal with it throughout the day, but at night it gets to the point were I think I may actually bring something up (sorry, I know that's gross). I take Tums to call it down. It doesn't make the heartburn completely go away, but it helps.
I have never heard that heartburn means a boy. I have heard if you have heartburn your baby will be born with hair. This is also a myth, but I did have a boy with hair the first time around with heartburn.

Your Doctor should tell you that taking TUMS or Rolaids are okay. They told me that I could eat as many as I needed because they were full of calcium.
Milk probably wont help it has lactic acid. I can't imagine it would.
Drink more water during the day. Also eat more but smaller meals. It seems to help with that when we don' t eat too much all at once.
There are many old wives tales with everything just about. When I was pregnant with my son they told me it meant the babies hair was growing. I'm pregnant with a girl this time, the same as you and I still have indigestion/ heartburn.
Just eat some good antacids with lots of calcium but make sure your doctor says it's okay for you.

I had moderate heartburn with my first pregnancy. If I remember correctly it started at about the time of my second trimester. But, with my second pregnancy... Whoa Nelly! I was eating a bottle of tums a week , I think! It started at about the same time and got progressively worse until delivery. My OB/GYN said that it was because I "carried" my babies differently. My boy was very low and my girl (the second) was very high. The more the baby presses on your actual stomach, the more heartburn you are likely to have. (And as for the heartburn/baby having hair myth is concerned, both of my kids had lots of hair. Lol.)

Actually the prediction is that the more heartburn you have the more hair that baby will have. I had heartburn that could take down a elephant...I lived on tums as that was all I could take (you should be taking at least oen tums a day anyways for the calcium) My son was born with a whole head of blonde hair at least an inch long all over.

I got heartburn through my whole pregnancy. I was told that its because the baby was going to have alot of hair, she had some hair and I still get it today..9 yrs later. Milk is not going to help, it actually upsets ur stomach more. I didn't take anything for it I learned to deal with it...sorry I know its painful. U might want to try eating a banana when u feel that its coming on, it might sooth it a little. I learned that eating chocolate was upsetting it, so its probably not what ur watching what u don't eat, u need to pay attention to what u r eating and figure out whats making it upset....good luck and congratulations

I kept heartburn with both of mine. I have never heard the whole thing about the sex, but I did have 2 boys. However, one of my friends kept heartburn and she had a little girl. The whole hair thing is a load of boloney. My first came out bald, no fuzzy hair or nothing. My second had hair, but it all fell out. A lot of women get heartburn during pregnancy. I just dealt with it. Good luck.

This brings back memories! I suffered really bad heartburn while pregnant with my son...went through gallons of Gaviscon which helped some also Rennies Soft Chews, especially at night! And I was told "your baby will have a great head of hair" and that was no lie - he had this mop of jet black hair that was practically in his eyes!!!
Good luck with your pregnancy - hope you find something to relieve you of this problem x x

The prediction thing (as with mostly all of them), are complete nonsense. My partner had intense heartburn during her pregnancy, and we had a baby girl.... so there's that myth busted :P
Try a mild antacid to calm your reflux. Just check with the pharmacist that it is safe to use while pregnant though.... some are, some aren't.
Good luck with your baby !! :) :)

As for the prediction thing, I would stick with the doctors, that is if there has been an ultrasound. Now, with the heart burn, Are you allowed to take tums, that is all I was allowed?
If it gets worse when you are laying down try laying on your left side, this will help the heart burn.
If this doesn't work try drinking baking soda mixed with warm water. Not a lot just about a teaspoon or so. It tastes awful, but it does work too.
Good Luck!
