Now that you have turned 18 let me welcome you to the real world. Students are poor, that's a fact. You don't see them lining up for food stamps. When you sign up for your student loans, they will let you take out money up and above your tuition for living expenses. I suggest you look into that.

No one gave me food stamps when I was single and a poor student.

If you want to know if you qualify for food stamps then go to the social services office and fill out the paperwork. Each person's case is different as well as the rules for cities, counties and states.

To be brutally honest, you shouldn't even try for food stamps as it's meant for the working poor with families. You're just a poor student. Welcome to the world of MacNCheese and Ramen noodles. Also, with you living at home you don't have rent and all to add into the mix.

Perhaps you should go to school part time and work more.

You can check with the food stamp local office, but the rule is a person needs to be working full time or able/willing to work full time, which usually disqualifies college students.
If a person is sick, in and out of the hospital, going to be evicted for not paying rent, nothing to eat, etc., food stamp office will NOT help, as the person is disqualified by not being able to work.
Look for another solution.

Check out this site to see if you qualify. I hope you graduate, get a high paying job and pay a lot of taxes back to the government.
