The Hayward Fault doesn't go through Pittsburg, Ca, but is about 30 miles away. If there is a major Earthquake from that fault line, I'm pretty sure we would feel it, but would it cause any life threatening damages? Is there an estimated time we can expect a "big one"?

30 miles is not very far. The Big one will come when it feels like it. We are not able to say exactly when!

San Francisco was farther than that from the epicenter of the Loma Prieta quake and look at what that did.
