They sure can beat the Angels. They hit very well against Lackey, KRod and Shields. Boston has the starting pitching and bullped depth to match up very well. The key for Boston is to get Manny Ramirez healthy. If he is, Boston will surely beat the Angels.

There is such a fine line between quality teams at this level. Of course, either team could beat the other in a short series depending on who gets hot at the right time. The Angels are a throw back team that can beat you with hitting, pitching, defense, and speed and I believe they would beat Boston in the playoffs this year should the two teams meet. A big key would be who has home field advantage and right now it is the Red Sox.

yes.
the red sox are 4th in baseball in fielding percentage, second in the american league-behind baltimore. the angels are 18th in baseball, 9th in the AL.
the red sox have the 2nd best era in baseball, first in the AL. the angels are 12th in the majors, 6th in the AL.
the sox are 2nd in OBP, the angels are 6th.
the red sox are 4th in runs scored, the angels are 5th.
the angels are second in baseball in batting avg, the sox are 5th.
the angels have the best home record in baseball, the sox have the 4th. however the sox have the best away record in baseball, the angels are tied for 7th.
assuming thats what the ALCS is, it should be a great series. both teams deserve to be there. sadly, a minor league team, or NL- whatevere you want to call it, has to go to the world series too or angels vs red sox would be it.

The Angels become a different team during the playoffs. The Cardinals are another team that transform into a juggernaut during the post season.

They could but I think the Angels are the better team. They are better defensively and are much better on the base paths than the Red Sox.
