If you don't want to loan it, then don't. You're under no obligation to open your closet to your friends. Be honest about the new items and tell her you'd like to be the first to wear them, but you bought the item at if she'd like to go check 'em out.

P.S. Spell check works well here, do take advantage of it. ☺

Explain to her that you are willing to share most of your clothes, but that you want the chance to enjoy your new clothes and favorite things all to yourself. Apologize for being so selfish (although you really aren't), and let her know you hope she understands. Be very, very polite, but very firm.

Then, be very clear about which clothes are completely off-limits- possibly using a special section of the closet or drawers. This should not be a big deal- no signs, special tags, etc.- just an understanding that you each have 'especially private' spaces the other one will respect.

This IS your stuff. You do NOT have to share- but it can seem very rude when you are teamed up with a person of different means or with different values regarding clothes.

Personally- I always start with a 'no sharing' rule, that eases up as the other person shows that they can take decent care of my stuff.

I also NEVER share what I would feel bad about if it got wrecked (but, I have little attachment to most of my clothing!)

That is something you should not have started to let happen. If she ruins the jacket, then is she going to replace it? Probably not. You work hard for your things, and she needs some boundaries. My girlfriend and I borrowed something from one another a few times. It was dry cleaned and returned within 3 days. We never asked to wear something that was brand spanking new either. But both of us had really nice things, and one did not take advantage of the other.

Just say no. As in "I'm glad that you like it,but I like it too.
That's why I bought it. I'd like to have it around and just
have the option of wearing it when I want to."

When you loan something out, assume that you will never
get it back or that it will be ruined,lost..whatever. When
you realize that this is pretty much the truth,it makes you
less likely to part with things that you really love.

If she's really your friend, saying no will not hurt the bond
you have. If she is just a user, then you will quickly find that
out...

Just say, "you know you're always borrowing my clothes and yet I never ask to borrow any of yours! What's up with that?"

Then tease her about shopping at better stores. She'll get the message.

Well, you can tell her in a nice way that you dun mind lending your clothes to her but you havent worn it yet. Make her understand that everyone would like to wear their clothes first before allowing others to. If she doesnt understand, i think she is making use of you and does not make a good friend.

Just tell her no. Say you just got it and you dont want anyone to borrow it. If she is a real friend she will understand.

I dont let anyone use my clothes.

Tell her no. Why would you feel bad? Tell her to wear her own clothes
