In permutations, the order of arrangement is very important. In combinations, the order of arrangement is not useful.
Suppose there are two things, A & B;
Their permutations are,
AB & BA;
Their combination is,
AB; (here, AB = BA);

Combinations are the ways in which you can take some things from a larger set without regard to order. This is usually called N (the larger) things taken R at a time.
Permutations are R things taken from a set in different orders. For example, the permutations of the 1st 3 integers taken 2 at a time are
1 2
1 3
2 1
2 3
3 1
3 2.
The combinations in this example would count 1 3 and 3 1 as the same, etc. So there would be 3 combinations and 6 permutations.
Any good algebra book will give you the formula.

ABC is a combination and is the same as ACB, and BCA as a combination. But ABC, ACB, BCA etc. are permutations, where the order of the letters is also important.
All words are permutations of the english alphabet which is a combination of just 26 letters.

DEF2:a permutation is linear if objects are arranged in line
DEF3:a permutation is circular if objects are arranged in form of circle

Permutation is the arrangement of things, while Combination is the selection of things. always permutation is greater than combination. ex- if u have 10 things...
then permu= no. of ways 2 arrange 10 things
= obviously answer would be more than 10
[bcoz u fix one thing and then arrange the other 9 things, then fix another and arrange the others.........and so on...]
but combi= no. of ways u can select things from 10 things
= obviously u cant select 11 from 10 at once
[bcoz u take'A' and 'C', then u select 'A' and 'B' and so on......]
so i hope it was understandable 2 u...
