Yes, they can and WILL win the Central, believe it or not. Soriano's setting the table with a lead-off homerun almost every game, you got Kerry Wood back, Lilly is pitching great. Ramirez is hot as well. Cardinals have disappeared completely, and Milwaukee just doesn't have enough guys getting on base for Braun and Fielder, plus weak starting pitching. Cubs aren't going anywhere in the playoffs, but yes, they will win the Central.

I could go either way because each team has their share of sacfrice lossses and never forgetting wins. But, in the last month the cubbies have been doing a better job of putting more wins on the board than milwaukee has. We will know by the end of september when the playoffs start. I think that it is too early to tell right now.

I think some people are confused. Here are the simple facts.
- Chicago does have the easier schedule, but they have to finish their season on the road (@ Florida, @ Cincinatti) while Milwaukee is at home but against tougher opponents (vs. St. Louis, vs. San Diego).
- Milwaukee has been playing better lately (7-3 in the last 10 games, 9-4 since Sheets returned from the DL), and Chicago has been struggling (4-6 in the last 10 games, 6-8 in same span).
I think the Brewers are on track to win the division. The Cubs just can't seem to play much better than .500 lately, even against the sub .500 teams.

I would say the team with more experience has the edge, but neither team has an appreciable advantage there. I'm thinking the Cubs right now, because they've been playing better of late. The Brewers kind of have a "one year away" look to them.

Milwaukee has re-emerged all of a sudden and the cubs are struggling to get wins...
If you are a die-hard cubs fan you should know by now not to get your hopes up just yet. The cubs have a tendency to screw up around this time, so don't expect much.
although it would be nice to see them in the playoffs i think Milwaukee will win the division by 1 or 2 games.

What about the St. Louis Cardinals? They are only four games behind which isn't really bad since the Cards are playing four games this weekend agains the Cubs. Any of those three teams have about the same chance to go to the playoffs right now. Yes Cardinals are in a slump but hey, they were doing a really good job so every team who is doing a really good job is going to have a slump sometime or other so better them have it now then later.

Hands down the lovable loser will be the lovable winners this season.. however, i believe the Brew Crew will be right there with them all the way until the end... Cubs pitching has got to get better soon.... Zambrano must become the ace he was back in late june and july... I believe Lilly will carry the cubs on his back up until the end. LILLY FOR CY YOUNG!!

The Brewers finish with the last seven games of the season on the road while the Cubs finish against the Marlins and Reds at home. The Brewers are 29-44 on the road this year and finish with the Mets, Pirates, and Cardinals and I believe Cubs fans will have a big smile on their face at the end of the regular season as they march into the playoffs.
