I have been depressed for a few days now. It happens quite frequently. I lay in bed, cry, and pray for death. What can I do to make my self less sad.

Try listening to some music that isn't depressing. Also going outside to a lake or the beach helps out a lot.

If these don't help, maybe you should see a doctor who can prescribe some medication. Maybe you are Bipolar or clinically depressed???

Force yourself to think about the GOOD things that life has to offer. If you will TRY to find some things to LIVE for,,,you WILL succeed in finding them. Life is not EASY. It is HARD,but some of the rewards of simply being alive are pretty great. Look around you at all of those things which you LIKE. Dead people do not get to enjoy any of those things. If you can just HOLD ON things will change. Even a SMALL amount of "JOY" can carry you a looooong way toward "happiness". Life is mostly bad times, but if you will WAIT for them,,,,,,THE GOOD MOMENTS WILL COME! You must be ALIVE to enjoy these MOMENTS of joy!!!! HISTORY proves that what I am saying is TRUE!

Use your imagination.
Dont limit it to what is possible.

Fantasise about what you WOULD do in your life if there were NO barriers in your way of ANY sort.

It could be TRAVEL to another country.
It might mean meet a famous person.
It might be that you want to learn a skill.
Or change carreer.

What ever it is DREAM, let your imagination RUN WILD. think of things that would make you LAUGH, enjoy your moment, right here, right now.

The mind can not discern what is reality and what is imagination, so in that way you can CREATE what ever you FANCY to do inside your mind and it is as if it is REAL.

This mental exercise is what saved me from my six month stint of thinking of ways to commit suicide. Thing is, it didnt do ANY of the things that I fantasised about. What it did was SHIFT my mind into a BETTER place to be and I am doing SO WELL NOW.

Where you place your focus you get your result.
I hope that it works for you too.

EFT is worth looking into. (Emotional Freedom Technique)

I discovered it AFTER my suicidal phase, but had I known it THEN it would have been a BIG HELP.

I would say that you had some contact with someone just before this, they probably made you feel a lot worse about yourself and it takes a while for you to recover from this. If you look back you will probably find that the same person has made you feel bad the other times that this has occured as well.

The solution is to tell them to f**k off because they are doing it on purpose and they will continue to do it whenever they can.

Enjoy life. Think about the things good you do in your day. Every time you do something good in your day as simple as saying hello to a stranger-write it down. If you do have a downer at some point in your day. Sit back and reflect on the good things that happened that day. Being Positive is the key here.

I know you probably don't want to leave the house but you need to get outside. I find that going near an ocean or a lake and just taking in the awesomeness of mother nature helps alot. It gets you some fresh air while giving you some time to re-evaluate your situation as well. Good luck honey.

Never underestimate depression. The end result of depression is fatal = suicide. So don't take it lightly. See your doctor and go on a course of antidepressants. Your world will regain it's colour and you, your energy.
Negate the belief that you can cheer yourself up, or "snap out of it" as some people will tell you.

Definitely get outside, you won't want to, but there's been research done that shows that sunlight can boost your serotonin productions. While you're out there, get your heart rate up a little. Remember Legally Blonde? "Exercise gives you endorphins; endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't kill their husbands!"

I'm sure this is the LAST thing you want to do, but it will work. Call a friend, talk to someone. I'll even let you call me if you need to! lol Sometimes it's nice to talk to someone just to talk just to get everything off your chest. Hang in there!

Uh these are NOT good signs.

There's something going on that you really need to deal with. This is beyond the normal ways of cheering oneself up.

You need to talk to a professional about this.

You don't say whether there's something that's been going on in your life -- if that's the case, there are people who can help you cope and move on.

If not, then there's something wacky with your chemistry.

You need to talk to someone who can help you.

Wanting to die -- never a good thing.

The best solution is to see a doctor or talk to counsellors. If you can't afford or don't want to for some reason, talk to church people if you are church goer. If that too is not an option, look at alternative options like EFT, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Bach Flowers etc.
