let me remind everybody that the last 3 teams in the cubs division that has won that division has represented the national league in the world series . in 2004 the cardnals lost to the redsox 4-0 , ending the redsox curse. in 2005 the astros lost to the whitesox (chicago's other team) 4-0 ,ending the whitesox curse . 2006(last year) the cardnals won only 83 games, got hot at the right time and defeated the tigers(the team with the best record in baseball) 4-1 , to shock everybody!!!!

I'm not sure why everyone is answering your question mentioning a century long streak. The streak includes how many years they haven't WON the world series. They appeared in one in '45, so while that's a long streak to not have appeared as well, the century long streak is about winning it. Anyways, to answer your question I think they'll have to pull things together a little more to win the NL. As far as playoff appearances go I'd rather see the Cubs over the Brewers. I'd most like to see the Cards do it, but they're too busy choking right now (which should help the Cubs this weekend).

Sure. The Cubs are only one game (I think) behind Milwaukee right now so the division and a playoff spot are certainly within reach. I feel that any team that makes the playoffs has a legitimate shot at not only winning the pennant, but the World Series as well. Each team will play 11 to 19 games in the playoffs so even a team that doesn't have an overpowering regular season record can win it all if they get hot at the right time.

The cubs are loaded with veteran players who have post-season experience. If they make it to the post-season (and that is a big IF) absolutely anything could happen. I mean you've played all year just to reach the post-season so there is a little extra motivation to do better. But then again all teams will be motivated.
You don't have to look outside the NL Central to prove this point.
St. Louis were barely over .500 and they managed to win the WS last year. Its all about which team wants it more.

As for the brewers, they lack experience but have great young talent. If they don't make it to the post-season this year, they'll definitely be a thorn in the side next year.
But if they do make it to the post season, i don't see them going very far. Maybe lose in the 1st round to Arizona or lose NLCS to the Mets.

I say either one the One that win the NL Central will be in the World Series I know both the Cubs and Brewers are Capable of beating teams like the Mets, D-Backs, and Padres, and they will, but in the End it will be the Cubs.

What about the St. Louis Cardinals? They are only four games behind which isn't really bad since the Cards are playing four games this weekend agains the Cubs. Any of those three teams have about the same chance to go to the playoffs right now. Yes Cardinals are in a slump but hey, they were doing a really good job so every team who is doing a really good job is going to have a slump sometime or other so better them have it now then later.

I see no reason why the Cubs can't go to the World Series. I'm sure George Steinbrenner would be happy to leave them tickets if they asked.

In a word no on each. Pitching, pitching, pitching is the key in the post season and neither team has a consistent enough pitching staff to go all the way. you don't know what you are going to get from either the starters or the relievers. They will be lucky to make the playoffs and if they do, they won't go far.

I am a Cubs fan but they are not good enough. They might get lucky and make it but the American League is stacked!!!!
