This is my first month of clomid (100mg) and my body seems to have responded well, I have 5-6 follicles of 12-16mm as of my u/s yesterday. My Dr thinks I may have 4-5 eggs possibly this cycle. I'm scheduled for an IUI when I have my LH surge, but I don't know if I should move forward with it this month based on the higher risk of multiples. Has anyone had experience with this? How many eggs per cycle are normal? How many people who do get pregnant with multiples had how many eggs? I just want to make the right choice, and not lessen my chance of conceiving since I've been trying so long!

I conceived quads with clomid with three eggs (2 of the babies were identical). Its hard to say what might happen with your cycle. You might not end up with that many eggs when you get closer to ovulation. There is a chance that only one or two of the eggs would implant, but there is also a chance that all of them would. There is also a chance that not of the babies would make it to term. I lost my two identical babies early in my pregnancy, and I'm now having twins. According to my doctor, it isn't uncommon for this to happen. It depends on how strongly you feel about having multiples. If you absolutely just want one baby at a time, I would think the risk of at least twins too great to go on with the IUI.

Personally I would continue on with the IUI. The risk of multiples is a little higher, but many many people who do it go on to have one healthy baby. If, on the off chance, you do get multiples, you will have multiple blessings.

Your possibilities of multiples with Clomid are low - purely approximately 10%. greater advantageous than twins is truly, very uncommon on Clomid. as far as your possibilities of having being pregnant pass, that's how my healthcare expert defined it to me: the possibilities of a pair who would not have any infertility matters conceiving in any given month are approximately 20%. With infertility matters, of direction that quantity is decrease - with Clomid and IUI, your probability is between 12-15% (yet that grew to become into for me - our sturdy "analysis" grew to become into unexplained infertility, and that i've got discovered on account that then that Clomid is greater valuable for females people who are not ovulating on their own - and that i grew to become into). perfect of excellent fortune to you!!

3-4 follicles is ideal for an IUI cycle. If you have less than 3 your success rate drops and more than 6 they usually cancel the cycle.

I would definitely continue on with it. You don't know that all will ovulate, chance that not all will fertilize, that all would implant or make it to term.
