But don't tell me "we have to educate them". Homophobia is an irrational belief and no amount of education can change that. There must be some other way to change these disgusting immoral people.

Visibility. It's a lot more difficult to hate someone you know and love, and your neighbors and coworkers, than it is to hate someone you've never met. An astonishing number of people still think they don't know anyone that's gay or lesbian, like we're a foreign species that only inhabits big cities and only work in certain fields. You're right, diversity education only works on those that already have an open mind.

For me, it's to challenge their oppressive bullsh!t verbally. I'm a straight girl ally and if I ever hear the f-a-g word or comments of the like from people I say something. I learned in anti-oppression training for crisis services to not let the little comments like that go. B/c distasteful jokes and the so-called harmless use of hateful words just encourages more hateful thinking. And I openly support by valuing my gay friends, by defending their honor if needed, supporting legislature that attempts to help their situation, and by trying to lead by example amongst others I know. I hope what I do helps, b/c they'd do the same for me with my issues -- and have.

Honestly I don't think everyone can be changed. Most have it imbedded in there religious belief system or in their family heritage. People only change when they want to change. You must not let them get to you. Deal with the situation, respect the situation and hopefully when the Apes take over all phobia's and isms will be gone.....

how do we fight against Homosexuality? why if they do not agree with your view are they irrational and disgusting and immoral?? the same thing is said by people who argue for child love or zoo. you probable believe these are wrong, but you own thoughts on sex are right. you have the right to set your standards where you want and so do they. we all set are limits and even agree with laws to stop others from doing what you do not like.

Education is the only effective way.

Even irrational people can learn...so long as we don't call them names while we're trying to teach them.

The best way is by passing laws where a hate crime also includes homophobic attacks. You can't change idiotic ways others think but you can protect other citizens from being harmed by their spew.

You can't make people change the way they are. I don't even care what people think of me and my gf. We're in love and partners for life...so they can just all go to hell. I'll just punch someone in the face if they gave me or my gf hell. I didn't know there was a fight either.

homosexuality is very clearly against the Bible. by saying to "educate people" against homophobia is like saying, "let's tell the millions of christians out there that the thousands of years old Bible is wrong." that's NOT gonna happen. there's a reason people are against homosexuality the same way that there is a reason that people are against bestiality. it's just not natural.

does that mean i can bash on homosexuals? no, it doesn't. i had a lesbian friend. we as christians are here to tell people the truth and whether or not they choose to change, is their choice. my job is done after telling them they're doing something sinful.

but no, no one can *make* people change their opinions whether they are for or against homosexuality. only God can work in someone's life and help them change but he still let's us all have our free will to do it or not.

Ignorance is hard to fight. Religion is used as justification to perpetuate hate and bigotry.

best way is for someone close to them to come out as gay and let them know it happens and there is no controlling it
