I am almost finished obtaining my paralegal degree- I live in Michigan- a place with about 10 jobs left in the whole state. I want to live somewhere where I can begin my paralegal career- any suggestions?

My cousin is a paralegal in Atlanta and she LOVES IT,and swears the job market is fantastic. The only thing she will say is that the traffic is hideous. Do some research on the Atlanta, Ga area.

I think you need to pick a state and go to school there. Laws vary from state to state. You will have a Michigan paralegal degree, and what you learned in Michigan may not apply in Idaho, so to speak.
When I graduated, it literally took me 2 years to find my first paralegal job; not because nobody was hiring, but because they wanted experience. I was told that it was a hard business to break into, but that depends on where you live. Around here, lawyers keep their paralegals for years, and very few jobs come open. I got really lucky and absolutely love my job.
My best advice to you is to look around state capitals. There are tons of attorneys and government jobs. Good luck, if you need more advice, let me know.

I was a legal clerk in the Army (civilian equivalent to a paralegal) so I would suggest checking with major military bases. They are frequently looking, as the military people are always being relocated or else they get out of the service.
