Depends on the (medical) reason why.
Sometimes weight makes a difference -- if you're too skinny, you won't menstruate; and if you're overweight that can trigger just about everything. I went on a low-carb diet and lost 25 pounds, my blood sugar and blood pressure leveled out and suddenly my periods were running like clockwork. (Turns out you can get pregnant that way!)

Try 2 natural foods-
Soy product - you can also get natural pills called "isoflavanoids".
Flax lignans - get the concentrated form. If you do not get concentrated one, buy ground flax (vacuum pack only). Cook it with other meal (like oat meal). you should take 30-50 grams a day of cooked ground flax for 4-6 weeks. For concentrated (AMRCC has one product called "lignans and fibre quick meal", check www.naturalessence.ca). It comes with 1.5-1.8% lignans. You need 5-8g a day. Eat it with flax oil (see instruction on the package)
In any case, you need to eat foods that are high in phytoestrogens. Both isoflavanoids and lignans are phytoestrogens and very helpful.

Sometimes if you have gained a lot of weight if can cause you to mess up your menstral cycle. I have found that exercising, eatting right, and not smoking can help to get your menstral cycle back on track. When I smoked, I almost never had a period. But you can go to your local Health Department for medical help. It is "Free". Good Luck, and I hope things get better for you.
