You're are selective with your choice of friends/associates. You don't just spend time with whomever is available. You prefer to choose friends/associates based on some set of values (eg. moral/spiritual, professional, etc).

It means you don't just hang around anybody. You hang around people that you've deemed as worth hanging around. It's usually a good thing, unless you're trying to be the friend of someone that doesn't want to hang out with you because they're fussy about the company they keep.

It just means you're fussy about the company you keep. Nothing more, nothing less.
For it to mean more, it would depend on the company you kept.

It means you will only spend time with certain people. "The company you keep" means the people you're with.

You have developed a sense of yourself that is strong enough to allow you to let go of the odd notion that one needs "lots of friends."

To me it means you will not hang out with people who have different morals then you do.I wouldn't go out with someone who didn't act polite in public.

You are particular about not allowing the 'wrong' sort of people into your life. Bad influences, for instance.
