Indonesia is on a strike-slip or transform fault. It is similar to the San Andreas Fault in California. Indonesia also borders the Ring of Fire, which is the most seismically active region on the Earth. I cannot remember if there is any subduction along the boundary but that doesn't matter, a strike-slip fault is bad enough. By the way, I didn't access your USGS link. This is all from my memory.

That's what the people are afraid of that the earthquakes will wake the volcano up and it will do a lot of damage. I read it in the Newspaper not long ago. The Tectonic Plates are shifting and thats why we are getting more earthquakes. My mother heard about that on the radio. In Southern California in the Gulf there has been a lot of big earthquakes and I check the map like everyother day.

I think George Bush and Dick Cheney did it. They are evil, you know.
